Coaching
One of the biggest benefits of crown green bowls is that the sport is fully inclusive. People of every age, ability and background can play with, and against each other – and everyone is capable of beating anyone else in a game. As a County Association, we are working towards being able to offer the most comprehensive coaching network within the sport.
Whatever your levels of ability and experience, we want to be able to support you with a coach that is local. All of our coaches are accredited through Coach Bowls and have also undertaken both safeguarding courses and DBS certifications. For further details, and to be put in contact with a coach in your local region, please contact our County Development Officer, Steve Clamp at steve.clamp.bowls@gmail.com.
If you would prefer to work on improving your ‘game’ in your own time, have a browse through our comprehensive library of practice guides. Crown green bowls is certainly a sport where an individual will see the benefits of regular practice. The guides have been split into three general groups –
‘Getting Started’ (for someone just starting to play the sport),
‘Basic Practice Techniques’ (to develop consistency and ability to play the right bowl)
‘Learning Your Green’ (for regular practice at your club).

Development
Right across North Lancashire & Fylde, Clubs have fantastic opportunities to enable themselves to develop, with plenty of support from our County Management Team. The key to all development, is that there has to be a desire to develop – it isn’t something that will happen organically without putting plans in place.
Development can be identified within lots of generic categories such as financial, bowling green orientated, membership, playing equipment availability, Club governance, volunteer skills, etc… but, we should always have the sporting definition of development as the starting point:
“Development, in a sporting context, is about participation, and promoting the opportunities and benefits of participation.”
Every Club can develop. The extent of such development lies with the people driving it, along with a knowledge and skill set for support. Within the County, we have a wealth of experience that can offer this support. Please contact our County Development Officer, Steve Clamp, with any questions at steve.clamp.bowls@gmail.com
