SUNDAY 20th July – North Lancs & Fylde vs Cumbria

North Lancs & Fylde Ladies went into their final group game looking for a win against Cumbria which would guarantee them second place in the group and a place in the supplementary competition. The home match was played at Moor Park Sports & Social Club, Preston and the away leg at Cumbria’s banker green, Lindal. The weekend was hampered by thunderstorms and heavy rainfall and the certainly helped the travelling team to Lindal as yet again they put in another superb away performance winning six games and losing the aggregate by just 9 chalks. NLF Ladies President Cat Lockwood was the standout performer on the day winning 21-7 and taking home the player of the match award. Hopes were riding high that the home team could pull off a winning margin to see the team over the line, but unfortunately the result didn’t go their way.. Cumbria won 7 games to 5, with North Lancs & Fylde winning the aggregate by the narrowest of margins 1 chalk. This meant Cumbria won the match overall by 8 chalks.
